Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What are 'PLA', 'PBAT', and 'PBAST'?

A.

PLA, PBAT, and PBAST are all raw materials used in manufacturing biodegradable plastics.

All of them decompose through hydrolysis reactions and by microorganisms under composting conditions.

PLA is a raw material made from starch
  derived from sugarcane, corn, potatoes,

and other sources.

 PBAT is a biodegradable plastic
  manufactured by synthesizing raw
  materials extracted from petroleum, a
  fossil fuel.

 PBAST is a biodegradable resin
  developed through PROPAC Co., Ltd.'s
  proprietary research technology.

Q. What is biodegradable bioplastic.

A.

●  Biodegradable plastic is plastic that’s
designed to break up when exposed to
  the presence of microorganisms.
It is generally made from plants (such as
corn or sugarcane) rather than fossil
  fuels.

The action of living organisms
  decomposes the biodegradable plastic
into water, carbon dioxide, and biomass.
It makes a life cycle from plants to plastic
to soil, makes no ecological harm during
  the process.

Q. How long does it take to compost.

A.

 Biodegradation means decomposition by
  microorganisms under certain conditions.

Our products have achieved
biodegradation rates of 90% or higher
within 6 months at a temperature of
  58±2℃, earning environmental label
  certification according to the Korean
  Industrial Standard <KS M ISO 14855-1>.

 We also hold certifications from
 the US BPI certification and
 OK compost Industrial/HOME
 both domestically and internationally.

For more information, please check our website: <https://en.pro-pac.co.kr/certification>

 Biodegradable plastic products
  require biodegradation rate control
  tailored to each product's
  characteristics, such as agricultural
  films that need to maintain
  performance for a certain period
  and disposable products that need
  to decompose quickly.

Propac Co., Ltd. has solutions that
  can control the biodegradation cycle
  for each product.
